Valentines Dinner Table Inspiration

Happy Valentines Day!

While Valentines Day has never really been something Sam and I celebrate, (though I will never say no to a nice bunch of flowers!) one thing I often find myself doing on or around Valentines day is cooking up a scrumptious 3 course meal. If you are planning to do the same and surprise your partner tonight, consider how you are going to set the table… If you are going to go to all that trouble, why not do something to dress the table too? You may think males don’t really care about this kind of stuff, but they do notice and will see the effort you have put into creating a special meal for them, it also helps to set the mood for a romantic evening. It’s doesn’t need to take a long time, and you do not need to spend a fortune, some coloured napkins and matching flowers will help to brighten even the plainest table!

If you have a little more time, and like me, you only have plain white or very modern dinner sets, and would like a little more colour for you Valentines table, why don’t you quickly duck down to the local op shop and pick up some vintage dinner plates and vases? You’ll be amazed at what you can find, grab a couple of miss-matched drinking glasses while you are there to complete your vintage look!

I also found this cute and simple DIY that I just had to share! So quick! Go and rummage the recycling bin, and see what glass jars you could salvage and turn into glittering votives… For the full DIY instructions, click here.

One last table setting to inspire you is by the fabulous Erica Brechtel over at Small Shop Studio. This was a table setting she pulled together for a small brunch last month, it’s simple, classic and stylish, as always! Click here for Erica’s tips, and to find out where she sourced everything, you’ll be amazed at how affordable most of it is! Great news to my fellow Aussies, West Elm now ships to Australia! That gold cutlery set is looking very tempting….

Hope you all have a wonderful day,
